Στου Παπά το μπουγάζι.
Παραδοσιακό ελληνικό τραγούδι με μουσική καταγραφή και ποιητικό κείμενο = Greek traditional song with musical transcription and lyrics
Recording, oral
This song with its lovely dance tune paints a vivid picture of a lugger struggling to round Cape Papas, battling the savage waves and the strong winds that blow incessantly round the headland. It expresses the hope and the desire that the Ikarian crew will come through safely, even if the ship should be lost. The song is strophic. The melodic unit has two parts, each repeated once and each covering a full thirteen-syllable iambic line, the second line being broken - and extended - by a four-syllable interjection. The first melodic phrase is based on the diatonic hexachord (D-B flat), while the second also drops into the low chromatic tetrachord D-C sharp - B flat-A.
