Παραδοσιακό ελληνικό τραγούδι με μουσική καταγραφή και ποιητικό κείμενο = Greek traditional song with musical transcription and lyrics
Recording, oral
In this wedding song the singer wishes the bride and the groom and their parents a life as full of years and happiness as the flowers in spring of the snows in winter. The song is strophic. Each single fifteen syllable iambic line is followed by a refrain of trialala..., and the musical structure contains three melodic phrases: the first phrase, repeated, covers the first eight-syllable hemistich, the second covers the whole line, while the third, which covers the refrain, resolves into a dance beat. The melody lies within the span of the single octave D-D, with B flat and F desplaying a characteristic shift through B and F to resolve into C and G respectively.
